The itch

This started with a frustration shared by anyone who measures things carefully: the software meant to help you understand your data is usually built to reassure you instead. It rounds off the uncertainty. It calls a three-shot group a result. It shows you a confident number and hides how little it actually knows. And then it puts that behind an account, a subscription, and a cloud you don't control.

For precision handloaders — people who chronograph their ammunition and chase single-digit standard deviations — that gap is maddening. The measurement is real work; the analysis is often a guess dressed up as a verdict. So the first tool, Vegan's Loadbook, was built to be the opposite: a referee, not a cheerleader. It predicts, and it says how sure it is. It referees your range data with real statistics that admit when five shots simply aren't enough to know your spread. It never tells you a load is safe — because a model genuinely can't know your firearm.

The rules

Every tool here is held to the same short list:

• Local-first. Your data lives on your device, in open formats. Sync happens over your own network or a folder you choose — never a server we run. Nothing to breach, nothing to sell.
• No accounts, no tracking. Download and use it. There is no sign-up, no analytics, no advertising ID, no telemetry phoning home.
• Honest about uncertainty. Predictions carry intervals and a provenance grade. Statistics come with confidence intervals. A number without its margin of error is treated as an opinion, and labeled like one.
• Yours to keep. Native apps, plain-file export, no lock-in. If you ever want to leave, you take everything with you.

These aren't marketing lines. They're constraints the code is written to obey — and the reason the apps look and behave the way they do.

Why "vegan"?

Because the software is 100% vegan: no animal products, no dark patterns, no data farmed from you, nothing exploited to make it work. It's a wink — but we mean it. The same care that keeps exploitation out of a plate keeps it out of a product: no manipulation, no harvesting, no quiet cost passed to someone who didn't agree to it. Honest ingredients, honest software. The umbrella name, veg.tools, is where the rest of that family will live.

Who's behind it

Mostly one person: Главвеган — the Grand Vegan. The «глав-» is the old bureaucratic prefix for chief, worn here with a straight face and a wink. The name is the joke and the promise at once: veg.tools is the Vegan's tools — built by someone who would rather hand you the error bars than sell you certainty.
